MINNESOTA MOVES ONE STEP CLOSER TO DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIPS
On Thurs., April 3, the Minnesota State Senate passed a municipal domestic partner benefits bill by a vote of 43-22. Though the bill still needs to be passed in the House, the LGBT community remains optimistic. "This bill provides local governments the opportunity to increase family security," said Monica Meyer, public policy director at OutFront Minnesota, the state's largest LGBT organization. "It's a common sense solution to the real problems facing today's families including that of securing health insurance for their loved ones. We deeply appreciate the actions of the Minnesota Senate today." > Full Story. [4/11/08]
